Manifesto for the counter demonstration during G7

Standing up against the G7, denouncing the intolerable

A joint statement by artists, cultural actors and art and cultural venues in Geneva against intimidation and repression, in support of the freedom to demonstrate and freedom of expression.

In 2003, the world rose up against the imperialist war in Iraq and Geneva introduced its first ‘anti-protest’ law, a repressive response to the crowds expressing their dismay at the deadly systems of the G8 leaders. In 2026, the major Western powers are profiting from the genocide of the Palestinian people and armed conflicts across the globe, and are conspiring to undermine international law by stepping up imperialist interference.

In support of the demands of the NO-G7 coalition, we call on the authorities of the Canton and City of Geneva to authorise the large demonstration on 14 June on both sides of the city and the creation of a welcoming, cultural space designed to foster exchange, debate and the development of critical thinking.

On 14 June, we, as cultural actors, will take part in the demonstration in Geneva to continue denouncing the intolerable. We invite everyone to join the mobilisations and debates organised by the NO-G7 coalition so that, together, we can devise new slogans to reverse the drift towards authoritarianism.
