‘The visual exploration of my work is deeply entrenched in the geopolitics and the never-ending conflict that afflicts my native Afghanistan. The relevance of such issues, however, overcomes geographical specificities and appeals to a contemporary condition that is globally shared.

Hazara works across mediums including photography, video, sound, programming languages, text and multimedia installations, exploring questions of identity, memory, archive, conflict, surveillance and migration in the context of power relations, geopolitics and the panopticon.

His works have been shown internationally including at 22nd Biennale of Sydney, Sydney Australia;  IKOB – Museum of Contemporary Art, Eupen, Belgium; Kunsthal Aarhus, Aarhus, Denmark; Museum of Civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean (MuCEM), Marseille, France (2019); 2020 Busan Biennale, and ACC Asia Culture Center, Kwangju, South Korea, amongst others.

Hazara was artist in residence at the Camargo Foundation, Cassis France (2019), KHOJ International Artists´ Association New Delhi India (2017) and UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Arts (UMISAA) scholar at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, Pakistan (2013-17).
